Holy Spirit 21- The Gifts of the Holy Spirit- Part 1

We are still on our 30 days journey on the Holy Spirit and it has been very amazing. Though, for me, it has been an herculean task having to discern the posture of revelation everyday. I hope you know that I have no note that I copy from?

Today, we are looking at GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT. 1 Cor. 12:1-11. Paul opens the chapter by saying that he doesn't want us to be ignorant about SPIRITUAL GIFTS. There are DIVERSITIES OF GIFTS BUT THE SAME SPIRIT.
Let us look at the Characteristics of Spiritual Gifts
- They are not gifts in the sense you own them. No they are released to you to operate in AS THE SPIRIT WILLS-1 Cor. 12:11
They are not signs of spiritual maturity. The Corinthians have been tagged 'the most immatured church that Paul pastored, yet, they came behind in NO GIFT OF THE SPIRIT. 1 Cor. 1:7. Wait a minute! This doesn't demystify the importance of the Gifts. A Christian without POWER is not different from a Jehovah Witness. Laugh

- Most times, functioning in the Gifts of the Spirit doesn't require the faith of the vessel and the recipient, only willingness is required.
- There is interdependency in the gifts of the Spirit. A miracle may require like two or three gifts before it can occur. For example, 4 gifts of the Spirit were responsible for raising Lazarus back to life.
-There are plural gifts of the Spirit e.g. Gifts of Healings, Divers kind of Tongues and Workings of Miracles.
- All the gifts of the Spirit are as deep as God Himself. However, you are only given a fragment out of the limitless supply that God has.
-If the gifts of the Spirit will operate through you, you must desire them. Apostle Paul said to COVET/EARNESTLY DESIRE SPIRITUAL GIFTS. 1 Cor. 12:31, 14:1. Your desire must vocalised in prayers. A passive mood will not help you.
-Love must be your motivation for desiring to walk in Spiritual gifts. This is the essence of 1 Cor. 13.
I will still give some other features later.
There are 9 Gifts of the Spirit that have been divided into 3 categories:
A. REVELATIONAL GIFTS- they reveal something. They are:
1. The gift of A WORD OF WISDOM.
2. The gift of A WORD OF KNOWLEDGE.
3. Discerning of spirits.

B. INSPIRATIONAL GIFTS- they say something. They are:
1. Prophecy.
2. Divers kind of Tongues.
3. Interpretation of Tongues.

C. POWER GIFTS- they do something. They are:
1. Gift of Faith.
2. Workings of Miracles.
3. Gifts of Healings.

Holy Spirit 15- The Seven Spirits of God- Part 2

We have established yesterday that the 7 Spirits of God describe the 7 fold distinct manifestation of the Holy Spirit and it also describes the perfection of the Spirit of God. Holy Spirit 8- The symbol of Oil

1 Sam.16:13, Is.61:1,PS.23:5,92:10. The Oil typifies ANOINTING UPON & WITHIN A PERSON. It's an empowerment for God's Service. In the old testament, the anointing comes only on THE PRIESTS, KINGS AND PROPHETS to perform spiritual tasks. The rule hasn't changed now just THAT ALL BELIEVERS have been brought in. The anointing is NOT THAT oil you carry about in the bottle. One man of God in Nigeria once said 'THE ANOINTING IS THE HOLY SPIRIT IN A BOTTLE'. That statement is completely heretical. To appreciate the Oil Dimension of the Holy Spirit, let's look at d making of the HOLY ANOINTING OIL in old testament. Song of Songs 1 vs. 3 'Because of the savour of thy ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee'  Ex. 30 vs. 22-25 THE HOLY ANOINTING OIL as described in Ex. 30 typifies  THE LIFE-GIVING DIMENSION. 1Cor.15:45.
