Dear reader, welcome to the twenty-fifth edition of these broadcasts. I want to believe you have been enjoying them?
I want to say some things around TONGUES AND INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES.
You see I found out by the Spirit of Revelation that
TONGUE IS OUR NATIVE DIALECT AS ZIONITES.
The same way the Yorubas, Hausa, French, Chinese, British, etc people have their own language, we as citizens of Heaven ought to have our own language. I am not talking about the idiolects that is cultivated over time through spiritual maturity. But, I am talking about a language known and spoken among the people of a particular tribe or family. We have a language called TONGUES. The challenge is that it has registered into some people's consciousness that IT IS UNKNOWN.
It is unknown to NATURAL MEN AND EARTHLY LANGUAGES BUT, TO THE SPIRITUAL PEOPLE, IT IS OUR NATIVE DIALECT.
It is on this basis that we can
have interpretation
and
Communicate with each other in tongues.
If God can communicate with us SPIRIT to spirit and we could understand, we also can have a spirit to spirit communication.
My deep can call to your deep. May God give you understanding.
Divers kinds of tongues is a gift to edify the Church in an unknown tongues. There is a Divine power backing up the words. This is what makes the difference between this vocal gift and other kinds of words that can inspire people.
HOW WILL YOU KNOW THAT YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN AN UTTERANCE IN TONGUES FOR EVERYONE?
You will feel like talking loudly for all to hear. Almost the same way you feel like coughing.
HOW TO INTERPRET TONGUES
1Cor. 14:13 'Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret'.
Even though Paul was addressing someone giving an utterance in tongues in a public gathering, yet , it can apply to the private devotion also. Many times, these broadcasts usually come on the wings of praying in tongues and interpreting my tongues. So, how can you interpret your tongues?
1. Know that INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES IS NOT EQUAL TO TRANSLATION (word for word) OF TONGUES. To interpret an utterance in tongues means TO GIVE THE MEANING OF AN UTTERANCE IN TONGUES. The implication is that the interpretation may be longer or shorter than the utterance in tongues. Selah.
2. Believe that it is possible for you to do so. This is where your faith comes in. It is by faith we got saved, get baptized in the Holy Ghost talking in tongues. So, faith is still required now. To interpret in a public meeting, BOLDNESS IS SERIOUSLY NEEDED. In Acts 4, after the disciples have been threatened not to preach in the name of Jesus, they gathered to their company (you need to have a company of Word and Prayer people) and prayed for boldness.
3. PRAY THAT YOU INTERPRET. The One that gave the utterance is very interested in giving us the interpretation when we pray. When you pray, believe that you receive and you shall have it.
4. Step out in faith and boldness.
NOTE:
In a private devotion, INTERPRETATION COMES TO YOU IN THE FORM OF THOUGHTS. These thoughts most times come in the language you think in. So, watch the thoughts that comes to you after the prayer. As a matter of fact, interpretation comes when your mind comes into harmony with your spirit.
Also, in a public devotion, interpretation, the first line of thoughts that comes to you at the point of surrenderness to God when you want to interpret is the interpretation of the utterance in tongues.
Let's look at the major Scripture that addressed interpretation of tongues in the Bible.
READ THE ENTIRE CHAPTER OF DANIEL 5 TO FULLY UNDERSTAND THE INTERPRETATION THAT DANIEL GAVE.
Daniel by the Spirit of God gave the interpretation of the handwriting on the wall.
MENE - number
TEKEL- to weigh something
UPHARSIN- division.
A literal translation of the handwriting is NUMBER, NUMBER WEIGH, DIVISION.
But, look at the interpretation conveyed through Daniel:
Dan 5:26 This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.
5:27 TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. 5:28 PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. As a matter of fact, the interpretation started from Verse 18 and stopped at Verse 29.
There is no way from the natural standpoint that one can come up with this interpretation no matter how you look at it.
I sense that some people have need of this teaching that's why God said to share along this line.
Summary
After you have yielded and trust God for interpretation, your first line of thoughts (seeking expression) is most likely the interpretation. Be bold enough to speak them out.
Those words can be a phrase or clause, SPEAK THEM OUT LOUD ALL THE SAME. The others will come. The rule is:
he that is faithful in little, more will be given.
Don't be afraid of making mistake especially at the beginning. God understands our frailties. You will increasingly get better. One of the reasons the Apostle Paul gave to encourage prophecy in the Corinthians that ALL MAY LEARN. 1 Cor. 14:31. You will improve as time goes on.
One of the reasons prophecies should be judged is that the quality of prophetic words are influenced by:
The spiritual maturity of the speaker.
The Word level, knowledge of God, etc are things that will reflect in the utterance.
The natural vocabulary available to the person. For example, if the person used to make grammatical blunders in spoken English, the same will happen when the person is prophesying. Listen up, it is not English language that came to the person from God. They don't speak EARTHLY LANGUAGE IN HEAVEN. BUT, THE HEAVENLY LANGUAGE IS SUCH THAT IT IS RELAYED TO THE PERSON IN HIS/HER EARTHLY DIALECT THE PERSON'S SPIRIT. THE CONVERSION TAKES PLACE WITHIN THE PERSON'S SPIRIT. Selah. Let me break it down,
If a Yoruba man were to visit Heaven and he see Jesus, he can come and tell you that Jesus spoke to him in Yoruba language. The same will be the fate of an Hindu man also. As a matter of fact, an Hindu man can claim that Jesus dresses like an Hindu when he saw Him. Can I take it further?
The quality of things you see in Heaven is a function of your spiritual maturity.
This should be easy to understand. For example, take (a boy in Primary One, J. S. S 1, an SS3 Science Students, a graduate of Zoology, a Ph. D holder in Zoology) to a Zoo and ask them to describe what they saw. You will agree with me that the variations in their description is KNOWLEDGE.
May God grants understanding.
The quality of our spiritual maturity affects everything about us especially the quality of our utterance in tongues. This is why utterance in tongues should be judged so as to seive out irrelevances and affirm things that are in harmony to God's will. I will stop here today. Tomorrow, I will begin to discuss other weapons of warfare. Have a blessed week ahead.
