Hello, I must confess that personally, I have been enjoying this series. In fact, I must confess that this is the BEST EASTER I HAVE EVER CELEBRATED IN MY LIFETIME ON THIS EARTH. This is not because anything happened to me physically but, I have been blessed with insights into things that have once been called secrets. To be honest with you, I have known more about Easter this year more than what I know in all the previous Easters put together. God also butter my bread this year by giving me 3 platforms to speak about this subject. First one, a church invited me to do a 4 weeks Teachings in their Sunday Services along this line.
Secondly, the ongoing CYA Easter Retreat is another one and thirdly this online platform. By teaching on these platforms, I am learning new things. Let me leave this excitement alone and face today's work.
Jesus, the seed of the woman
Even though the Devil heard the words of God in the garden, he didn't comprehend it. This should tell us that he is not all-knowing. If he had known the possibility of a woman having seed, he might have tried to stop it. He found out when Jesus had gotten on the scene. Also, he didn't know that Jesus was going to defeat him through the process of death. For have known it they wouldn't have crucified the Lord of Glory.1Cor.2:8, Heb. 2:14-15.
JESUS AS THE PASSOVER LAMB
Ex. 12. Time and space can't afford us the luxury of posting the entire scriptures here. But, this is it.
God told Moses shortly before they left Egypt that they should get a lamb without blemish, one year old lamb. One per family depending on the size of the family. They are to kill this lamb and use this blood to make a sign that typified the cross of Jesus on the lintel of their houses. This is necessary because God said the angel of death will go through the entire Egypt that night to kill the first born from every house that the blood of the lamb is not applied. They are supposed to eat the whole lamb leaving nothing till behind.
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ABOVE
Jesus is our Passover Lamb. His blood makes both the judgement that we deserve and every other punishments to pass us over. His blood is our insurance against every every consequence and onslaughts of the devil. Again, we are to eat the whole LAMB. It means we must accept every part of the Lamb of God. But, what we have nowadays is that we eat the part that is convenient for us to eat. The Gospel is a complete one; many are only preaching an aspect of it. Everything Jesus brought must be received by us till we come to THE FULL STATURE OF THE MEASURE OF CHRIST.
JESUS AS THE SIN OFFERING AND SCAPEGOAT. Lev. 16
The Bible talks about two goats that are relevant to our line of discussion they are: SIN OFFERING AND THE SCAPEGOAT
After Aaron has performed some ceremonial washings, he will take a young Bullock and offers it to atone for his own sin. After that, he will now cast lot upon the two kids. Whichever the lot fall on is called 'the lot of the Lord'. That become the scapegoat while the other is the sin offering. The sin offering is killed and the blood is sprinkled 7 times upon the Mercy Seat. Aaron will now lay both hands upon the scapegoat and confess the sins of the entire nation upon this goat and hand it over to a FIT MAN to lead it into the Wilderness. The meaning is that the sin of the entire nation has been taken care of that year.
THE NEW TESTAMENT SIGNIFICANCE
Jesus is both our Sin Offering and our Scapegoat. As a sin offering, his blood cleansed us from every sin completely.
Jesus as our Scapegoat
A scapegoat is one that bears the consequence of the wrongdoing of others so that others can go free.
How Did Jesus became our Scapegoat?
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Listen, John the Baptist was of the lineage of priesthood. Remember his father was Zechariah. This event happened after Jesus' baptism at Jordan. The Bible says that after Jesus came out of the water, the Holy Ghost descended on him in the form of a dove and God spoke to the bystanders there. After this occurred, He was led by the Spirit to the Wilderness. It means the Holy Spirit was the Fit man that led Jesus into the Wilderness while John the Baptist stood in the position of Aaron. May God grants you understanding! Jesus is the ransom for our sin. He took our place by dieing for us. For the wages of sin is death. So, He paid the wages of our sin so that we all can go Scot free. He went to the Cross on our behalf. Everything He did was for us. Hallelujah!
