PROPHETIC SERIES DAY 16
Hello everyone, welcome to another day in this prophetic series. We are going to continue to look at the QUALITIES OF A PROPHET.
We have talked about the Prayer Life, Word Life, Waiting on God. Yesterday, we stopped at the fact that a prophet must have A SERIOUS LOVE WALK.
Paul the apostle says in Rom. 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
A prophet that doesn't have a good love walk will cause more than good in his exercise of the creative dimension of the Prophetic Office. Haven't you heard of cases where pastors have cursed Church members and their declarations came to pass? There are many prophets that have grown to a state where Dunamis have been mixed with their words such that anything they say (good or bad) comes to pass automatically. Jesus forbade the sons of thunder from calling down upon the Samaritans just like Elijah did for two reasons:
A. The contest in which Elijah called down is different from this. They wanted to kill Elijah and he mustn't die seeing he will still return to combat the Antichrist. While they only rejected Jesus and his disciples.
B. Jesus knew that Samaritans will still receive the Gospel that's why He couldn't give such orders. Paul the apostle wrote 1 Cor. 13 to deal with OUR MOTIVES. Why are you seeking God' s power? Is it because you want to bully us around? Love must be your motivation.
Jesus says LOVE YOUR ENEMIES. PRAY FOR THOSE WHO MISTREAT YOU THAT YOU MAY BE THE HUIOS (MATURED SON) OF YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER WHO SENDS RAIN UPON THE GOOD AND THE EVIL. Mt. 5: 43-48.
C. BE FULL OF COMPASSION:
This is the empathy shown towards the misery of others with a desire to proffer solutions to it.
Jude says in Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
Compassion is the threshing floor for power. Many times you will read that Jesus had compassion on them and healed them all. This is what stirs up holy anger in you against the works of the Devil in people's life.
You can't minister effectively if you don't have compassion for the people you want to minister to. You see the Prophetic realm has been mixed with the Priesthood. You can't be a good prophet if you are not a good and consistent Praying Priest.
D. Be humble.
God resisteth the proud and grace to the humble. Because you prophesied now and it came to pass doesn't mean you shouldn't respect people anymore. Pride goes before destruction. Your pride will limit your measure and anointing to a ridiculous level. When you are proud, it is God Himself that deals with you. He resist the proud...
E. Stay away from sin.
The sacrifice of Jesus didn't cancel the eternal law of 'the wages of sin is death'. He that is born of God doesn't make a practice of sin for the seed of God remains in him. Except you are operating by the energy that comes from the demonic realm, you can't feel free to participate immediately after sinning in spiritual activities. Righteousness is the nature of God given to us to empower us live above sin and her works. A prophet can't afford to toil with sin and still expect the anointing to be strong.
2Tim 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
F. You must be disciplined and have Self Control.
Someone describes 'Self Control' as SELF GOVERNMENT. Ability to put yourself in check. There are times that you have to keep what you have seen a secret. Even John and Daniel were instructed to seal some revelations they had. You have to learn how to bring yourself (every part of you) into alignment with God's will and purify yourself from every wrong things so that you can be fit for God's use.
