Hello everyone, I welcome you to the second half of this series in the name of Jesus. In the first part, I took time to talk about various events that will occur between now and the New Heaven and Earth. In this second part, I will talk about the relevance of Joel's prophecies to our days, the End Time Army, Nigeria and her prophetic destiny, etc.
Note:
A serious level of prophetic inclination is needed to flow in this second part. I pray that God will pour out the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in this aspect upon every reader in Jesus' name.
Please take time to read Joel Chapter 1- 3 very well.
GENERAL INTRODUCTION TO JOEL
This book was categorised with the Minor Prophets like Amos, Hosea, Micah, etc but as we will still discover, it contains some deep Revelations that some of the so-called Major Prophets didn't have.
THE TIME IT WAS WRITTEN
This is one of the few books that theologians were not able to agree on a specific date it was written. One thing is sure, it certified to be long before Jesus came and even before the captivity of Israel started. Some said it was written around 838-756BC which would fall in the time of David or even before David. This is further corroborated by the absence of names like Assyria and Babylon (cities around in the days of captivity) and by the presence of Tyre, Sidon, Philistines and Egyptians (old times enemies of Israel). Some said it could have been written between the fifth and seventh century B.C. But, the common belief is that the content of the message wasn't affected by the date.
JOEL CHAPTER 1
The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel. Joel 1:1
Joel means Jehovah is God.
Pethuel is a combination of two words- 'Pethu' and 'El'.
Pethu means an opening, a mouth, a gate or a portal while El is the name of God- Jehovah. So, Pethuel means an opening (mouth, gate or portal) for Jehovah.
This means that Joel's prophetic inclination was traceable to his father. May your children inherit deep spiritual virtue from you in Jesus' name.
Verse 2 downward is filled with a call to different age groups to talk about the four levels of catastrophes that have invaded the land.
FOUR CATASTROPHES
That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten. Joel 1:4
A. Palmerworm: suddenness, surprising catastrophe typifying natural disasters.
B. Locusts: Destroyers typifying diseases and pestilences.
C. Cankerworm: attacks the farm in the absence of the farmer. It typifies thieves, stealing, corruption.
D. Caterpillar: destroyer on the land typifying terrorism.
These are the four levels of evil that have invaded the land. Maybe I am the only one that is seeing NIGERIA in the light of this scripture!
Let me stop here today and continue tomorrow.
